Volunteers

I may have talked to a bunch of you yesterday at the Environmental Action Night. If you are reading this then you have joined the student farm blog. You can check here for updates, pictures, farm schedule, etc. There will be more to come, but I had to start somewhere. Look forward to working with some of you.

NRES/HORT Student Farm

Welcome! This is the inaugural year of the NRES/HORT Student Farm at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. We will be growing approximately 2 acres of vegetables for the 2009 outdoor production season. In future years we hope to expand and diversify with year round production in high tunnels supplementing traditional outdoor production. We also hope to begin fruit and bramble production as well. The mission of the farm is to provide students, growers, and the community experiences in small scale fruit and vegetable production. The farm will be managed "high-end sustainable" with some acreage possibly transitioning into certified organic production in future years. A working relationship with the students, staff, and faculty is going to be essential to the success of the farm. We look forward to an exciting and challenging first year.
